On Instagram, where talent shines brightest, it’s only a matter of time before the world notices. For Mr. Slowboy, a 36-year-old illustrator, his artwork masterfully blends the charm of playful comic-book aesthetics with a refined maturity that enchants both fashion enthusiasts and art lovers.

Fei Wang - known to the world as Mr. Slowboy - is originally from Beijing, China. He pursued higher education in Singapore and the UK before embarking on a career as a Creative Director at an advertising agency in the US.

However, despite his professional success, Fei Wang felt unfulfilled. His passion for illustrating fashion had quietly grown over the years, until one day, he chose to leave the corporate world behind. Taking a leap of faith, he moved to London, and thus, Mr. Slowboy was born.

Simple but Rich in Detail

Mr. Slowboy has a unique ability to capture characters and moods using deceptively simple yet meticulously detailed lines. Armed with watercolors, gouache, and colored pencils, his works breathe life into every stitch, button, and fluttering scarf. His illustrations celebrate fabrics and patterns, highlighting even the tiniest nuances. As a personal devotee of Classic, Sartorial, and Ivy League fashion, Fei Wang’s own style mirrors his artistic ethos.

Initially, friends encouraged Fei Wang to start a blog and share his insights into men’s fashion. Writing, however, didn’t appeal to him. Instead, he let his art do the talking. Within just four months of posting his first illustrations online, he caught the attention of Esquire China. They invited him to create an illustration series for London Fashion Week.

This opportunity opened the doors to collaborations with prestigious brands such as Suitsupply, Drake’s, Alfred Dunhill, Barbour, Hackett, and Fox Brothers, among others.

Why “Mr. Slowboy”? Fei Wang confesses to being rather... slow - slow to act, slow to catch jokes, and generally the last to get things done among his friends. The “Slow” also reflects his admiration for slow fashion - timeless and enduring, a deliberate step behind fleeting trends. It’s a philosophy that perfectly aligns with his work and personal style.

From his precise brushstrokes to his love for fashion’s timeless elegance, Mr. Slowboy is a true master of his craft, creating art that speaks to the heart of menswear.
