Now, you might ask: why do men need multiple skincare products? Isn’t a simple face wash enough? In reality, a face wash alone doesn’t cut it if you want to properly care for and cleanse your face. Here’s a look at my experience after nearly three weeks of using Murdock’s three-step system. But before diving into my impressions, let’s break down how to use each product in the Daily Facial Care Regime:
Step One: Exfoliate (1-2 times per week)
Product: MENS EXFOLIATING FACE SCRUB
I like to think of this as “polishing the skin.” The scrub contains pumice particles that massage the face gently, giving it a refreshed feel. Apply the product evenly, then massage in small, circular motions all over the face. It’s a soothing process that works wonders to clear away dead skin cells.
Step Two: Face Wash (daily)
Product: CLEANSING FACE WASH
Start by wetting your face thoroughly. Then, take a small amount of the cleanser (about the size of a coin), rub it between your palms, and apply it evenly across your face - forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. The face wash lathers beautifully and provides a deep clean, leaving the skin refreshed.
Step Three: Moisturize (daily)

Moisturizing is key for every skin type, even for those with oily skin. Developing the habit of moisturizing helps maintain smooth, hydrated skin and prevents dryness - especially during those harsh winter months. Gently dab the product onto your fingertips and massage it evenly over your face, paying extra attention to dry areas like under your eyes and around the corners. For best results, apply the moisturizer at night before bed.

Exfoliating Face Scrub:
Murdock’s Exfoliating Face Scrub is widely praised - and for good reason. Its creamy texture, which feels like a smooth avocado blend, combined with tiny pumice particles, gently exfoliates the skin, leaving it noticeably smoother. The scrub feels fantastic, but be cautious not to overuse it, as pumice can be abrasive. Limit it to 1-2 times a week to allow the skin to naturally shed dead cells.
On top of that, this scrub is an excellent prep for shaving, especially around the chin and lips. The exfoliation makes the skin smooth and prepped for a close shave, allowing the razor to glide effortlessly without causing nicks.
Cleansing Face Wash:
The face wash lathers perfectly, creating just the right amount of foam to gently cleanse the skin. The clean feeling is evident after rinsing, especially when using warm water, making it a soothing experience. It leaves the skin feeling fresh without stripping away natural moisture.
Hydrating Facial Moisturiser:
The moisturizer has a thicker consistency but absorbs rapidly into the skin without feeling greasy. Even with my naturally oily skin, I noticed a significant reduction in oil production, as the product offers just the right balance of hydration. It’s not too heavy, making it perfect for daily use.
Fragrance:
The face wash has a fresh minty scent with a subtle hint of aloe vera. The exfoliating scrub smells like a mix of aloe and jojoba oil - smooth and refined, like a gentle perfume. As for the moisturizer, it’s fragrance-free, which makes sense as it’s the final step in the routine, and by then, your face already carries enough of a natural fragrance.
