Every five hair styling products I try, I’m committed to sharing my thoughts. Just a heads-up: these reviews are personal, as my hair is thick and coarse, so results may vary for others. If you have similar hair or are simply curious, read on for my latest finds!

Hanz de Fuko Claymation

If you’ve been following me, you know Hanz de Fuko’s Claymation is a staple for me. This wax is thick, odorless with a subtle beeswax scent, and works wonders on my unruly hair.

Just a fingertip’s worth is all you need - warm it up in your palms, spread it through, and you’re set. After a helmet? Just a quick finger-comb, and it’s back in shape. My current style is a medium quiff, but I’m aiming for a voluminous pompadour this winter, and Claymation is up for the job. 😀

Hanz de Fuko also nails their branding, with ambassadors like David Beckham, Jordan O’Brien, and Mariano di Vaio.

Colonna Hair Mud

For anyone looking for a budget-friendly alternative, Colonna Hair Mud fits the bill.

I stumbled across this German wax during a cut. It’s softer and stickier than traditional wax, living up to the “hair mud” name. It has a nice scent, gives a flexible hold with moderate shine, and is easy to restyle after helmet use.

It’s ideal for short to medium-length hair.

Reuzel blue

Reuzel Blue has made me a pomade fan. This one has a rich vanilla scent - strong but smooth. It’s water-based, thick yet softens with a little heat.

If only it were edible! I’m hooked on that vanilla scent.

The “Blue Pig” offers a firm hold and a bit of shine, leaving hair feeling healthy and ready for a comb-through whenever. Great choice for those into classic slick-back or pompadour styles.

Jack The Snipper Matte Creme

Australian barbers created Jack The Snipper, and with their Matte Creme, I may have found Claymation’s rival. It’s thick but easier to apply and has an intense hold that lasts all day. Despite being on the go, my hair kept its shape without budging. My only gripe is that it leaves a slightly stiffer finish than Claymation, so restyling can feel a bit sticky.

Jack The Snipper Pomade

Another solid product from JTS. Their pomade is water-based with a reliable hold, though slightly softer than the Matte Creme. It keeps my stubborn hair under control all day, but if I’m out in the evening, I’ll need a touch-up. The downside is that it leaves hair stiffer than I’d like, making it harder to restyle without dampening my hands first.

The pomade has a light lavender scent with a high shine, ideal for classic looks.
