Uniqlo is a globally recognized name, known for its affordable yet high-quality fashion, making it a favorite among many.
Enter Christophe Lemaire, the designer who left behind the luxury world of Hermès to pursue his own vision.
Back in 2015 and 2016, Uniqlo’s collaboration with Lemaire sent minimalist style fans into a frenzy. The collections they released were nothing short of amazing - impeccable design, perfect fit, and top-notch materials. Personally, I’m definitely one of those "victims," owning nearly 10 items from the Uniqlo x Lemaire collections. I’m hooked!
If you’re unfamiliar with Lemaire, let me introduce you to a true fashion icon. With experience at Saint Laurent and Mugler, and a decade-long stint as Lacoste’s Creative Director, Lemaire's journey continued with his design work for Hermès. After leaving Hermès in 2004, he focused on his own brand alongside his wife, Sarah-Linh Tran (who’s of Vietnamese descent). Lemaire’s aesthetic is undeniably minimalist, featuring simple, muted tones that have become his signature.
Uniqlo x Lemaire – A Collaboration for the Ages
Lemaire’s success and reputation made the Uniqlo x Lemaire collaboration an instant hit. Recognizing this, Uniqlo made it a priority to bring Lemaire on board long-term. Recently, Uniqlo announced that Christophe Lemaire would join as the principal designer for a new line, Uniqlo U. This move has fans excited, as it means Lemaire’s minimalist, modern designs will be a staple for the brand.
It’s exciting to see Lemaire bringing his talents to a more accessible range!
The latest offerings from Uniqlo U will certainly not disappoint. From coats and windbreakers to sweaters and jogger pants, everything in the collection exudes Lemaire’s signature minimalist spirit. And remember, this is just a preview - so be sure to start saving up for the full launch at the end of the year!
