Launched in 2008 by Swedish designer David Ericsson and based in Hong Kong, VOID Watches have made a name for themselves with a diverse range of products. From digital to quartz and mechanical watches, as well as various leather and NATO straps, they offer something for everyone. David Ericsson’s philosophy behind VOID Watches is clear: keep things simple, avoiding unnecessary frills while still incorporating standout details that make each watch unique.
Now, let me be honest - writing in-depth watch reviews isn’t my strong suit. But when it comes to watches, well, I’m obsessed. So, this review is packed with passion! The journey to this article started with a tempting offer from VOID Watches: they offered me one of their best-sellers, the V03D, in exchange for an honest review. Having admired VOID Watches for a while, I jumped at the opportunity.
I had the pleasure of working with Natalie Leung, the Sales Manager for VOID Watches. Natalie was extremely professional and delighted to hear that I was already familiar with their brand. After some back-and-forth, she gave me three options: the V03D in jet black, gold, or gray. I opted for the gold, as it had an irresistible appeal. I promised Natalie I’d give it my best shot to provide a fair and balanced review.
The watch arrived about a week later, and at $215 (around 5 million VND), I found the price pretty reasonable considering the free international shipping and 2-year warranty.

The small Manual fits neatly at the bottom of the box.
The watch arrived in a sleek, matte-black box that perfectly encapsulates VOID’s minimalist approach. Tucked underneath the box was a compact user manual, a refreshing change from the thick, overwhelming booklets that often accompany watches. The instructions were simple and straightforward - a nice touch, especially for an analog watch like this.

The V03D itself is a classic analog watch featuring a date display. The gold variant I received has a smooth, brushed steel case, which is visually striking. If it had been polished, I don’t think I would’ve liked it as much - it’s subtle yet refined.
Under the hood, the watch houses a Miyota movement, a reliable Japanese mechanism made by Citizen. Miyota is used by several renowned brands, such as Jacques Lemans, Junghans, and even some Tag Heuer lines, so it’s no slouch.

The watch’s case has a 38mm diameter with a 10mm thickness, which feels substantial compared to the thinner styles currently trending. The glass is made from standard mineral crystal, so I can’t vouch for its scratch resistance, but with careful use, it should hold up well.
The V03D’s face is where its minimalist design truly shines. The concentric circles on the dial are subtle but captivating, with white numerals and markers popping against the black backdrop. The two watch hands are luminescent, a small but valuable feature. Some reviewers noted difficulty reading the dial in bright sunlight with other colors, but I got lucky with the high-contrast black face.
Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, which basically means it can handle a light drizzle. You’ll want to avoid serious water exposure, though.

On the back, the watch has a polished steel case engraved with David Ericsson’s signature and the basic specs.

The crown, located at the 3 o’clock position, features VOID’s logo and is designed with a textured finish that contrasts nicely with the smooth case.

The watch buckle is accented with the VOID Watches logo in the corner.
One thing that stands out about the V03D is its leather strap. Soft and slightly textured, the strap feels comfortable right out of the box. A small but notable feature is the squared-off end of the strap - most watches round this off, but VOID goes the extra mile with a unique design touch.

Comparing it to other watches in my collection, like the Mondaine Evo and Daniel Wellington, the V03D’s strap is more refined and elegantly cut.
After wearing it for over a week, I found the V03D’s minimalist design incredibly versatile. Whether I’m rocking a casual t-shirt and jeans or dressing up in a smart-casual outfit, this watch always complements the look. It even worked well for a formal event where I had to wear a suit. The V03D is a true all-rounder.

In my opinion, the V03D is a highly versatile watch. It can be effortlessly styled with both casual and formal outfits.
VOID also offers a variety of straps in different materials and colors, giving you the flexibility to change things up if needed. For those wanting to switch it up, a NATO strap might give the watch a fresh, sporty vibe.
In the end, the V03D by VOID Watches is a piece that effortlessly blends simplicity with modern elegance. It doesn’t scream for attention, but it subtly captures your eye with its thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship. For anyone looking for their first high-quality watch or just a versatile timepiece to add to their collection, the V03D is a solid choice. With a minimal design that goes with almost anything, this watch will likely become your go-to accessory.
