Essential Fashion Tips to Elevate Your Style

Writer's picture: Tom GoedhartTom Goedhart

I’ve gathered a few tips from friends, the web, and my own style experiments. Hopefully, these can help you keep your personal style on point. 🤓

Money can’t buy style, and maintaining it is a whole different game. Let’s dive in!

Belts: Not Always a Must-Have

A common misconception is that adding more accessories makes an outfit look better. Actually, the more details you pile on, the more likely you are to miss the mark.

Now, I’m not saying belts are useless. They’re a solid staple for any guy’s wardrobe. But ideally, your pants should fit well enough on their own, right? Try ditching the belt; you’ll no longer have to worry about matching it with your shoes. Plus, it gives your look a more cohesive vibe without that “break” at the waist.

It’s not that you need a belt – you just want one 😁.

Less is more. Hình ảnh chỉ minh tính chất minh họa thôi nhé.

White Sneaker Laces Matter

No matter how spotless your white sneakers are, grimy laces can ruin the whole look. Clean laces make a huge difference, even if your shoes are less than pristine.

Remove the laces and soak them in water with a bit of hand-washing detergent or a sneaker cleaner for 10-15 minutes. Give them a quick scrub, and they’ll be good as new. It’s easy; most guys just don’t bother to take the laces out when cleaning their kicks 😅.

Rolling Up Sleeves

Want a simple way to shift from formal to casual? Just roll up your sleeves.

But don’t roll them too high – you’re going for laid-back, not dishwashing-ready 😂. Stick to three folds max (including the cuff), ending somewhere between the elbow and wrist.

Fixing “Shoulder Ears” on Shirts

Ever notice how some shirts get those weird shoulder “ears” after hanging? It happens when you put heavy items like sweaters on hangers that are too small, causing shoulder dents.

To fix it, dampen the affected area and gently massage the fabric until it flattens out. Wear it until dry if you need a quick fix. And going forward, fold heavy sweaters like T-shirts and stack them in your closet instead. No more hanger disasters 🙄.

Clean Out That Closet

If you’ve got a full closet but still feel like you have “nothing to wear,” it’s probably time to pare down your wardrobe. Keeping only your go-to pieces makes daily choices so much easier.

Here’s a simple trick: turn all your hangers in one direction. Each time you wear something, flip the hanger the opposite way. After a month, you’ll clearly see which pieces you actually reach for. You might be surprised 🤣.
